Uye Surana (Founded in 2010) is a fashion and life-style brand offering women quality pieces that are as individual as the wearer. Incorporating handmade elements into design, Uye Surana’s one-of-a-kind pieces are exclusively crafted at the studio of the label’s promising young designer and owner, Monica Wesley in N.Y.C.

Monica graduated from Parson School of Design with a BFA in fashion. Her innate talent and keen vision allow her to create a label unlike any other. Adding the individual flair into the ordinary NYC vintage style is Monica’s professional knowledge and craftsmanship, which are shown in the details of each garment—such as fabric treatments, hand dye, hand stich, handmade embellishment and all way down to the last button. Localizing the production process allows Monica to keep a close eye and ensure to keep their absolute quality. Uye Surana’s relaxed comfortable silhouette is also easily worn with layers. The timelessly stylish design suggests you to feel comfortable and attractive at the same time: Perfect garments for our speedy busy lives.

We had a wonderful opportunity to visit Monica’s studio and learned that emerging cloths and life style within her company came very natural for her. The Chicago born designer has broadened her horizon by traveling the world. After visiting multiple countries, she told us that she would love to visit Australia to expand her market. Though, her next destination is Istanbul during the upcoming summer for her next new collection.

Uye Surana is now available at Midoma from March 20^th to April 20^th.

To kick off the latest collection, they will be having an early shopping preview on March 22^nd (Thurs.) from 6-8pm at Midoma hair salon and gallery space. Along with illustration from Eric Rosner, there will be the sample sale of Uye Surana S/S 2012 as well as the preview of Uye Surana F/W2012 collection. You will be getting a complementary gift with purchase over $50. This is the best chance to get the limited high quality items!
