John Simon Daily was invited to the Viper Room in Los Angeles for an exclusive performance with Eric Dill, former lead singer of “The Click Five”. You may have heard their hit song, “Just the Girl”. It was certainly the biggest sing-a-long of last summer. The song became the #1 most-downloaded song on iTunes for over 2 weeks, leading to a RIAA platinum certification as a Digital Single.

Now, Eric has returned to the music scene with a solo album, “Forever is Not Enough”. His experience with the band has allowed him to master his craft and grow musically. The album conveys just that.

Dill has collaborated with Nickelback front man Chad Kroger and American Idol star Chris Daughtry to produce and write Daughtry’s hit single “No Surprise.”

We entered the Viper Room and spotted Dill in a T-shirt, vest, and pants constructed of leather and denim. Of course we had to ask him about his personal style. “I want my style to look as if I crawled out of the ground after a disaster. Black and grey are my favorite colors”, he said. Eric currently resides in Los Angeles and enjoys working out and playing video games.

As CMJ came to a close, the real marathon began as I scrambled to catch as many concerts as I possible could. Lucky for me I only needed one artist to sum up my 2010 CMJ experience, Peter Hadar. I first came across Peter Hadar in 2008 on Love Will off of Ra-Re Valverde’s A Beautiful Mess album. His smooth voice made me take note of the singer/songwriter who as written for the likes of Joe, Carl Thomas, Eric Roberson, to name a few. With his single Full Time Lover, Peter is gearing up for the release of a new album Take Off Victoria expected out Spring 2011.

With every CMJ concert I attended, no matter the artist or genre, I walk away with a sense of renewed inspiration. Every hour a talented musician stepped on a stage and shared a part of themselves with hundreds of  strangers. Just days after the release of her album From the Echo, Cyndi Harvell made her CMJ debut when several years before, she sold everything she owned and moved from Georgia to California with a dream in her heart. Her sweet voice is a mixture of pop and folk that could easily put her in the same realm of Jewel and Colbie Caillat.
