Ms. Wintour spoke very fondly of her dear friend Eric Bowman, one of the world’s most influential photographers, who was overcome emotionally when he wed his partner of many years as something that he never quite thought would happen in his life time. To all nays Sayers Ms. Wintour represents the epitome of the power of sheer determination and persistence for the tireless championing of the commitment to the LGBT community through her work with marriage equality, HIV/AIDS activism, and the It Gets Better Campaign.

Maksim Chmerkovskiy star studded birthday bash was the place to be last Friday night. Presented by his Dance With Me Dance Studios, the show told the tale of Maks’ life through dance performances coupled with friends and family stories. The show was hosted by fellow Dance With The Stars pro dancers Tony Dovolani, Val Chmerkovskiy and of course Maksim Chmerkovskiy himself. Last night at Hollywood hideaway hotel Chateau Marmont, The Weinstein Company along with Dewar’s hosted a private cocktail party after the SAG Awards to celebrate their nominees and the evening’s winners. At the event, celebrities including the casts of Glee and Modern Family, Michelle Williams, Meryl Streep, Sofia Vegara, Busy Phillips, Rumer Willis, Dianna Agron, Julie Bowen, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Guy Pearce, Glenn Close, Rose Byrne, Jean Dugardin, Glenn Close, Juliana Marguilies, Missy Pyle, Chord Overstreet, and several others, mingled with friends, enjoyed dinner and sipped custom Dewar’s cocktails.

When the night’s big winner Jean Dugardin entered the party everyone stood up from their table’s for a standing ovation! And even though Meryl Streep lost to Viola Davis, she was still the most popular guest to snap cell phone photos with. Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Guy Pearce both rushed up to her and gushed how excited they were to meet her. She was in great spirits and even cheered glasses with the other nominees Glenn Close, Berenice Bejo and Michelle Williams as they all said it unison, “We’re such LOSERS!”

Sofia Vegara was a social butterfly, true to form, and mingled with all the guests, taking playful photos and kissing the guests like Alan Cumming and Jesse Tyler Ferguson. She also spent a good part of the evening talking with Jean Dujardin but actually were communicating through his translator. Then they took some personal photos together for her blackberry.

The cast of Glee were surprise guests and didn’t know there was a party there that night. They ended up grabbing their own table and sticking together, with Darren Criss even sitting on Diana Agron’s lap.

On January 23rd, hip-hop legend and weight loss advocate, Fat Joe, performed at an event celebrating the winners from Let’s Move! Newark: Our Power (LM!NOP), a program created by Behavioral Health & Fitness Expert, Jeff Halevy, to fight childhood obesity. After improving his lifestyle, Fat Joe has recently lost over 100 pounds and chose to be a part of Halevy’s Let’s Move! Newark: Our Power to encourage our youth to follow his success.

Jeff Halevy was hand-selected to create Let’s Move! Newark: Our Power by Newark Mayor Cory Booker, as an extension of First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! Campaign, which Mayor Booker currently serves as the honorary Vice Chair. The program began in October of 2011 with 1,500 high school freshmen in five different Newark, NJ high schools competing against each other for the most minutes moved. Barringer 9 School has achieved the coveted winning title with an impressive 619,600 minutes moved, earning them a performance by superstar recording artist, Fat Joe, as well as a renewed attitude towards physical activity and wellbeing.

The LM!NOP challenge in Newark will kick-off a national series to combat the overwhelming statistics on childhood obesity. Upon joining the program, each participating student received a MYTRAK, a cutting edge, credit card size, wearable health device, which measures both duration and intensity of physical activity. The 12-week program had students “Going for Green” on their MYTRAK device, turning the device’s LED light from red to green, indicating that 60 minutes of physical activity have been achieved. MYTRAK donated 1,500 M2 units to the LM!NOP campaign, which included access to MYTRAK’s online suite of health and wellness software that connects users with a team of lifestyle program advisors and community based support. Newark high school students will be rewarded based on their level of activity and in addition to the winners receiving a concert by a top musician, other prizes will include Nets Basketball tickets and Zumba DVDs to designer apparel from ENYCE and high-end TRX Suspension Training equipment.
