Review: Trump Soho’s Bar d’Eau

Though Summer doesn’t officially begin until mid June, most consider memorial day weekend as the officially unofficial start of the summer party season. Weather permitting this weekend is usually filled with garden parties, barbeques and for us city dwellers rooftop soirees. Bar d’Eau is one of many venues opening up to the public this week. Hillary Clinton Receives Century Award From New York Women’s Foundation

On a rainy Thursday morning, May 10, more than 2,300 women came together at the New York Women’s Foundation (NYWF) 25th Anniversary Celebrating Women Breakfast Honoring Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Al-jen Poo and Merble Reagon. The inspiring breakfast included a choir performance, speeches from various NYWF board members, local NYC officials, and of course the guests of honor. Read more

Fourth Annual Charity Art Auction Raises Over $100,000

Last week, Bronx native Swizz Beatz, in partnership with the Bronx Charter School for the Arts,hosted the fourth annual art auction event at Marquee nightclub in New York City. Beatz himself says he is committed to assisting the school with achieving its fundraising objectives. The gala was yet another milestone for the foundation as they raised over $100,000 to support the arts school’s arts education programs, as well as its academic intervention programs—which provide additional support for struggling learners. January Jones + Oceana Ambassador Hosts Yves Klein Screening

Yves Klein was an artist in the truest sense. He took risks and broke rules for the sake of his personal expression. Fifty years after his death Klein is poised to shock the world once more and garner an estimated $30 Million for the sale of his masterpiece “‘Fire-Color 1’ (FC 1)”. The original work is to be sold as one of the highlights of Christie’s Post War & Contemporary Evening Sale on May 8th. In honor of this momentous occasion, Christie’s teamed up with La Mer and sponsored a screening of a short film about his life called La Revolution Bleu. The film is shot by and follows the artists from the start of his career to his untimely  death in 1962. It features authentic footage from the 60′s including a glimpse into Klein’s creative process. Running has always been a love and hate relationship with me. As much as I hated running, I always found myself up early in the morning with thousands of other runners eager to cross the finish-line. I first heard of Black Girls Run when I ran a women’s 10k race in Central Park. In a sea of thousands of female runners, a young African-American woman stood out from all the rest with a shirt that simply said  “Preserve the Sexy/Black Girls Run”. I couldn’t wait to finish the race to find out what Black Girls RUN! was all about. Read more
