Diego Binetti presented his Spring Collection 2011 in “The Box” at the Lincoln Center. This venue arguably the best choice for this collection, allowed for guests to spend more time viewing the designs than the typical 60 seconds we get to see on a catwalk. The collection comprised of 22 pieces, can best be described as ethereal. Drawing from the inspiration “Mother Earth,” Binetti used fine silk and chiffon fabrics in pale shades of beige, blue and yellow. Each piece, very feminine and elegant was accented with beading, sequins or lace giving a goddess like feel to the collection.
What made Binetti’s collection stand out from other presentations during the week was the great attention to detail in the manner in which the collection was styled. Each ensemble beautiful in its own right was paired perfectly with eye catching baubles; from over the top cocktail rings, to large chunky necklaces to my favorite accessory the “slinky” bracelet. The collection embodies the ideal of Spring in a very wearable manner and I wouldn’t be surprised to see some of these pieces pop up on red carpets come early 2011.
