Toasts and Tastings with Shecky’s

The bar was set high as Shecky’s rolled out their first  event at the Altman Building this past Tuesday and Wednesday. Shecky’s is best known for Girls Night Out – their fabulous shopping and beauty events held throughout the year in all major cities including LA, Miami and DC. Sadly, we have to report they missed the mark this time around even though there were some great finds.

Toasts and Tastings was to feature over 30 foods, wines, cheeses, and desserts with a wine class hosted by premiere sommeliers included per ticket. We saw many desserts stations including Ciao Bella Gelato (ciaobellagelato.com) and Eileen’s Special Cheesecake (eileenscheesecake.com), but not enough foods to balance out our palettes. There were some notables such as the salmon ceviche sampler at the Agua Dulce (aguadulceny.com) and the chicken salad cones at Highpoint Bistro and Bar (highpointbb.com) tables.

We are hopeful and confident that Shecky’s will bounce back and redeem itself. They have recognized their missteps and are responding to the feedback by offering attendees a $20 discount to their future events (I will vouch for the Girls Night Out events!).
