It was a night of inspiration earlier this week at the luxe Boom Boom Room where the Reeve Champions Summer Party was held. The fundraising event was organized by The Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation’s Champions Committee representatives Alexandra Reeve Givens and Matthew Reeve (daughter and son of the late Christopher Reeve), Francesco Clark of Clark Botanicals, Elisa Lipsky-Karasz of Harper’s Bazaar and DIOR BEAUTY. Linda Wells (the editor-in-chief of Allure Magazine and actor Hayden Christensen (most recently in New York, I Love You and Takers) were also on hand to special guest host the evening’s festivities. While it was a celebration of the Reeve Foundation’s work as well as the 20th Anniversary of the American Disabilities Act, the event was also a call to action led by Alexandra Reeve Givens. She spoke of the progress that the Reeve Foundation has helped pioneered and the importance of the ADA as a significant piece of civil rights legislation, but reminded guests that more needs to be done to improve the quality of life for those affected by paralysis and of course, to ultimately to find a cure for spinal cord injury. The Champions Committee is one such way as it endeavors to engage and inspire young professionals to raise funds and awareness for those living with and affected by paralysis.

Francesco Clark, the new ambassador for the Reeve Foundation and who recently published Walking Papers was all smiles as he spoke about the overwhelming support he has received and how invigorating it is to see the galvanization of young people around the cause. Clark is the epitome of inspiration and his memoir further proves that as he details the accident that left him paralyzed and his subsequent road to recovery through entrepreneurship.

Throughout the evening, guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvres, cocktails and stunning views overlooking the Meatpacking District as they placed bids on some exclusive auction items that included NY Fashion Week packages and a private session with DIOR celebrity make-up artist Ricky Wilson.

Folks from various industries came out in droves with fashion and beauty well represented including designers Peter Som, Jeffrey Costello and Robert Tagliapietra. While many quests had purchased seats for the event, the leather banquettes were left virtually untouched as everyone was up and about, which spoke to the energy in the room and around the purpose of the evening.
